Debugging Beam onboarding

We’ve tried to make the onboarding process with Beam as simple as possible. But we know it’s not perfect and sometimes folks run into problems. Below are three possible issues that may arise.

1. I have copied the Beam code snippet but there's no button to click to verify the integration. What's wrong?

When you copied the Beam code snippet, please click on the 'copy snippet' button first. This will then make a 'verify' button visible and hopefully everything should work.

2. I've installed Beam and clicked the verify button but it doesn't work. Why doesn't it work?

a. The first check is to see if the tag is on your page. One immediate check you can do is to go to your website’s homepage, right click to ‘view page source’ and search for ‘beam’.

And hopefully you see this when you view the page source, you'll find Beam like it's shown below.

If not, it alas means the beam code has not been installed. Once it’s installed, go back to your website to test if Beam is logging your data properly. If you run into issues, please let us know at hi@beamanalytics.io.

b. There might be a problem with the request being sent. To check

  • Right click and select 'Inspect'
  • Along the top nav bar, select 'Network'
  • Click refresh and see if a request is made to the Beam servers

If a request is not being made and you can't figure out why, please let us know at hi@beamanalytics.io.

3. I'm using Google Tag Manager and Beam isn't working properly. What do I do now?

We hope that this blog post on using Beam with GTM should help.

4. You’re a Wordpress user and Beam’s data isn’t logging

Good news! This is an easy fix. Please install this plugin.
